We Deserve Honesty
Keith Fitzgerald OPPOSES Raising Anyone’s Tuition!
My opponent has claimed that I not only “raised tuition up to 40%” but also suggested I did so to somehow line my own pockets. Both are lies. The legislation in question gave certain universities the discretion to implement a fee, which, when combined with any regular tuition increase, could not exceed more than 15 percent of the prior year’s tuition. This additional funding was to be used solely to enhance undergraduate academic programs. It has no connection with professor salaries and is in no way a benefit to me in my capacity as professor.
And once again, this was a Republican-sponsored bill with bi-partisan support.
Let me add that I am proud to be a professor at New College of Florida, ranked fifth by U.S. News and World Report as one of the Top Colleges of 2009. As an educator, I have fought for policies that would strengthen Florida’s public schools and I will build on that record during my second term.
Stand up against the politics of personal destruction and vote for me on November 4. Or better yet – Early Vote!
